Our Rating: 8/10
Overview & Ratings
You may have already heard of Tony Little and his Gazelle. He and his unique exercise machine have been prominent figures in the fitness industry for over a decade. The Gazelle is an affordable and interesting piece of equipment that gives you a proper workout without too much strain on your body. The classic Gazelle doesn’t come with any resistance settings, but the Gazelle Supreme does. With the Supreme, you can flick an on/off switch to add tension to your workout. Aside from this addition, the Gazelle Supreme has the look and feel of the highly popular original Gazelle. It’s equipped with features that have been part of the Gazelle for years, like a data tracking computer and soft glide tech, and comes delivered with bonuses, such as a 22 oz. water bottle, a nutrition guide, and Tony Little’s signature workout DVDs.
Based on our extensive analysis, we’re giving the Gazelle Supreme a rating of 8 out of 10.
Features and Specs
- Dimensions: 3’7” L x 2’6” W x 4’6”
- Weight : 57.5 lbs
The Gazelle Supreme is a fun, easy-to-use machine that gets its name by mimicking the long-stride running style of the gazelle antelope. The Supreme, in particular, is a slightly more advanced version of the original Gazelle. It comes with a lot of the same features, but allows you to choose between a completely low-impact workout and a more challenging one.
On/Off Hydraulic Resistance
The Gazelle Supreme uses power pistons to add tension to its otherwise low-impact workout. The resistance only comes in one setting – it can be turned on or off – but any resistance at all is still helpful if you’re looking to do a higher stakes workout every once in a while.
Soft Glide Technology
The Gazelle Supreme exercise machine, like every other Gazelle machine, uses soft glide technology for smooth, flexible strides that are easy on the joints.
Exercising on the Gazelle Supreme is so low-impact that you can exercise for hours without realizing you’ve been getting a beneficial workout. The workout does make you break a sweat and gets your heart beating, but never in a way that causes you pain.
You may only be able to do some variation of a striding motion on the Gazelle Supreme, but you’re still doing a full-body workout. You work your body in 10 different ways with one routine.
Pulse Grip and Workout Computer
The Gazelle Supreme comes with sensors on the handlebars that track your pulse. The information from the sensors is then sent to the workout computer, where you can track your pulse as well as your calories burned, distance, time, and speed.
Tony Little’s Workout DVDs
Get a load of Tony Little’s vibrant and uplifting personality by watching his three bonus workout DVDs, which come shipped with the Gazelle Supreme: (1) Total Body Workout; (2) Quick Shape Workout; (3) Ultimate Body & Mind Workout.
Diet is an important part of fitness, health, and lifestyle improvement. The Gazelle Supreme package includes a nutrition guide full of helpful diet tips.
Water Bottle Holder, plus 22 oz. Bottle
You can conveniently keep your workout drink nearby in the bottle holder on the Gazelle Supreme. If you don’t even have a water bottle, you’ll be happy to know your machine comes with a 22 oz. one.
Folds for Storage
The Gazelle Supreme can be folded in half and flattened for easy storage under furniture or against walls. Transportation wheels can help you move the machine forward, once it’s folded.
This product comes with a one-year warranty. Longer warranties, such as four- or five-year warranties, may be available at an additional cost of $90 to $100.
Shipping and Assembly
The Gazelle Supreme Glider can only be shipped within the U.S. and to APO/FPO addresses. Shipping weight is 68 lbs. Gazelle Supreme assembly is relatively easy. The machine comes with the necessary tools and a Gazelle Supreme manual. 3 AAA batteries are required and included.
The Gazelle Supreme may offer “10 workouts in one,” but the range of motions you can perform on the machine is still restricted to forward-backward striding, similar to cross country skiing. That being said, you can change your workout position on the Gazelle. Instead of just exercising facing forward, hands gripping the handlebars, you can also workout sideways or facing the rear of the machine. The X-shaped structure of the Gazelle Supreme lets you hold onto the equipment from four different spots besides the handlebars.
Many Gazelle Supreme machine reviews, as well as reviews on other related Gazelle machines over the years, are positive ones. There are plenty of reasons why. The Gazelle may be a simple machine that’s perhaps too easy for some people, but it’s also for these reasons that Gazelles suit plenty of people. It’s the perfect home gym machine for people who want to take it easy on their bodies while still getting a pretty effective workout.
Full Body Workout
The Gazelle Supreme targets multiple different parts of your body: your arms, your abdomen and torso, legs, and your glutes. You can tone and firm almost every part of your body, doing “10 different exercises,” while only using a simple back-and-forth striding motion. The Gazelle workout routine is simple and easy to learn, but all-encompassing. This means the machine is best for people who want to get a solid, complete workout but are maybe a bit time-crunched. The Gazelle Supreme is one of the more practical pieces of exercise machinery on the market, often just right for the average, everyday working person.
A low-impact workout is probably not your style if you’re a practiced athletic or you consider muscle pains a mark of success, but it is good if you’re keen on getting your daily exercise without putting your body through too much. The low-impact workout offered by the Gazelle Supreme is easy on your joints. The routine is so relaxing that it’s easy to forget you’re even working out. You can spend hours on the Gazelle Supreme each day and only realize you’ve been getting effective workouts when you start seeing the physical results in the mirror.
The Gazelle Supreme, and other Gazelle machines, uses soft glide technology to create its low-impact workout. Your strides on this equipment are going to be smooth and relaxed. You might even find the loose, uninhibited swinging motions of the Gazelle pretty fun. If you’re using this machine without any resistance, you’ll likely find yourself working a little harder than usual trying to brake. The glide is extraordinarily soft, to the point where your strides might get a little out of control if you’re not careful.
The Gazelle Supreme is linked to a small computer that keeps track of your pulse, calories burned, distance, time, and speed. There are pads at the top of the handlebars that monitor your heart rate and send the information to the computer. This computer and the pulse grips help you figure out if you’re meeting your fitness goals and give you incentive to pick up your pace. Having a data-tracking computer on your fitness machine is never a downside.
The Gazelle Supreme is packaged with a few extra bonuses that aren’t necessary for the machine to function, but useful to you and your fitness endeavors. You get a complimentary set of Tony Little workout DVDs, a 22 oz. water bottle, and a nutrition guide. The nutrition guide is something to turn to when you want to start making better dietary choices but don’t know where to begin. Three Tony Little exercise DVDs ((1) Total Body Workout; (2) Quick Shape Workout; (3) Ultimate Body & Mind Workout) give you insight into ways to spice up your workout routine. A water bottle (that can be stored in the bottle holder on the Gazelle Supreme) helps keep you hydrated and healthy.
The Gazelle Supreme is a relatively good piece of exercise equipment, sold at a reasonable and affordable price. But it’s not perfect either. In a variety of other Gazelle Supreme Glider reviews, people note that the Gazelle is awkward to move, despite being foldable and coming with portability wheels. It can be moved, but it might take more than the typical amount of effort.
It’s also not the most durable machine available. It has a tendency to start squeaking if it’s overused and not maintained regularly. The squeaking shouldn’t be too much of a distraction, as long as you keep your TV or workout playlist loud, but it is something to keep in mind.
Finally, the resistance system is fairly basic. This isn’t too much of a problem if you prefer low-impact workouts that go easy on your body while still being effective, but perhaps potentially frustrating if you live by the mantra of “no pain, no gain.”
The Gazelle Supreme Glider is an affordable, comfortable-to-use, and surprisingly fun exercise machine that’s perfect for people with busy schedules, who want effective yet painless workouts. The Supreme comes with a variety of extras and, despite its simplicity, is still advanced enough to be hooked up to a computer system. The Gazelle Supreme may not be perfect – it may be hard to move, not particularly durable, and have only a bare minimum tension system – but it’s good nevertheless. There’s a reason it has the legacy it’s had for so long now. It features a unique design and properties, it suits almost any lifestyle, it’s inexpensive, and it targets several different areas of the body but without any of the soreness that usually accompanies full-body workouts. With all that in mind, we’re still giving the Gazelle Supreme a rating of 8 out of 10. If you can overlook its small handful of minor flaws, you will more than likely be satisfied with your purchase. The Gazelle is truly not a bad piece of at-home exercise equipment. It’s characteristically suited for at-home use, due to its practicality and low price point. The Gazelle has given thousands of people the means to get healthy and fit at home, without spending hundreds on annual gym memberships.
